A Self-Help Guide For Nutritional Healing
Cystic Fibrosis Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease involving the endocrine and exocrine glands. It is characterized by recurrent lung infections and impaired gastrointestinal absorption. Symptoms begin early in life.
This disease affects certain glands in the body such as the pancreas, lungs, male reproductive organs, and sweat glands. The mucous membranes in the glands of the lungs produce thick mucus which blocks lung passages and promotes the growth of harmful bacteria.
Those with cystic fibrosis usually suffer from malnutrition because the body lacks the necessary digestive enzymes. The body does not absorb required nutrients. Victims of this disease also lose excessive amounts of salt through their sweat glands.
Since this disorder most often strikes children, the supplement doses recommended below must be altered accordingly. Consult your doctor!
